Welcome to Stephen & Nina's Wedding Website!

Travel Information & Things to Do

*We strongly encourage you to book travel arrangements as soon as possible.* Early autumn is a beautiful time in Vermont that also attracts an influx of tourists, a.k.a. "leaf-peepers". Vacancy is already limited and booking up fast. We have suggested many options for lodging below and are working to see if we can add more, but please get in touch if you find difficulty making any travel arrangements.

Vermont experienced flooding in July. Be aware that many roads and businesses are still affected by the flood damage.

Where to stay?

  • The owners of the Inn at the Long Trail have kindly offered a 10% discount to anyone booking a reservation there for our wedding. Just call and tell them you are visiting for Nina & Stephen's wedding!

  • Hotel Coolidge is located just across from the White River Junction, VT Amtrak station. They are offering a $15 per night discount when you tell them you are visiting for the Rembert-Wolkwitz wedding!

You might also consider lodging in any of the towns located along U.S. Route 4 in Vermont, including Rutland, Killington, Bridgewater, Woodstock, Quechee, and White River Junction. Many national hotel chains have locations in either Rutland or the White River Junction Area. There are also many lodges associated with the nearby Killington Ski-Resort.
Some of our other recommendations would be:

  • Quechee/Pine Valley KOA Campgrounds has cabins available to rent (with electricity and hot water) in addition to plots for tents or RVs
  • The Lincoln Inn: next to a covered-bridge and also a "culinary destination"
  • Align Inn
  • Greenbriar Inn
  • Mountain Meadows Lodge
  • Hampton Inn Rutland

    Transit to Vermont?

*Note: For-hire vehicle services (Uber/Lyft/etc.) are limited or often unavailable in this part of Vermont.*

It will be easiest to get around Vermont if you have a car. Rental cars are available locally in Rutland, VT and White River Junction, VT (also in nearby Lebanon, NH). The Long Trail Brewery is located on the Ottauquechee River in Bridgewater Corners, VT along U.S. Route 4. If you are driving up from the south you could opt to take Vermont's scenic route 100.

There is an Amtrak train station located in Rutland, VT with service from New York City (passing through Albany). There is another Amtrak train station located in White River Junction, VT with service originating in Washington, DC and also passing through New York City.

There is bus service to Lebanon, NH from Dartmouth Coach originating in Boston (Logan airport or South Station) and New York City (near Grand Central).

If you are flying in, the closest major airports are Boston, Burlington, Albany, or New York City. There may be connecting flights available through Cape Air from Boston to the smaller local airports at Rutland, VT or Lebanon, NH.

You can access the area on foot via the Appalachain/Long Trail.

Things to do in the area?

  • Billings Farm & Museum: Farm animals (!!!), quilts, horticultural & environmentalist history, a unique house, maple ice cream, programs for kids
  • Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park: Hiking and many other activities
  • Quechee Gorge: Vermont's "little Grand Canyon"
  • Check out downtown Rutland: one of Vermont's largest cities (population ~16,000). We are fans of Mountain Music, Roots the Restaurant, and Jones Donuts.
